Abstract
The text discusses recognition in classical German philosophical anthropology, the idea of recognition as a vital human need, and the human drive to engage in struggles for recognition. Furthermore, it presents a suggestion from evolutionary anthropology concerning the developmental process through which recognition, as well as struggles for recognition, evolved into a fundamental human characteristic.
