Zusammenfassung

Der Beitrag diskutiert die enge Verknüpfung von Film und Rassismus und zeigt, dass sie seit den Anfängen des Films bestand. Dabei setzte der Film alle Dimensionen historischer Rassismen um. Er bediente sich intensiv der Bilder von Rassen, schloss aber auch nichtrassisch konnotierte Dimensionen des Rassismus ein. Mit seinen Möglichkeiten der Popularisierung rassistischer Stereotype erwies sich das Kino von Beginn an als einer der zentralen Orte negativer Vergesellschaftung.

This paper discusses the close connection between film and racism and shows that it existed since the early days of film making. At this, film implements all dimensions of historical racisms. It intensively drew on images of races but also included non-racially connoted dimensions of racism. With its possibilities of popularizing racist stereotypes, cinema from the outset proved to be one of the central locations of negative societalization.
