Zusammenfassung
Durch ihre schauspielerische Leistung sowie als öffentlich bekannte Personen bekommen Filmstars klar umrissene Images. Diese dienen der Filmindustrie zur Vermarktung der Filme. Im Film wird das Image zum Teil der Erzählung, wenn die Charaktermerkmale des Stars mit denen der Figur übereinstimmen. Für das Publikum geht die Wirkung weiter und tiefer, da die Images emotionale Bindungen erlauben oder als Idealbilder dienen. Im kulturellen und historischen Kontext verkörpern Stars gesellschaftlich relevante Verhaltensweisen und Bilder der Identität.
