Dieser Aufsatz bietet eine Einführung in die Kultursoziologie Jeffrey Alexanders. Im ersten Teil wird das frühe theoretische Werk Alexanders kurz beleuchtet. Es bildet die Grundlage seiner Kultursoziologie. Im zweiten Teil stehen der Kulturbegriff und die Autonomie des kulturellen Systems im Zentrum. Im dritten Teil richtet sich die Aufmerksamkeit auf die Strukturen des kulturellen Systems.
