Zusammenfassung
So wie andere Kommunikationsformen, hat das Digitale auch die Praxis des Geschichtenerzählens verändert. In diesem Beitrag skizzieren wir das Forschungsfeld, das sich mit digitalem Geschichtenerzählen beschäftigt, und arbeiten dieses in Hinblick auf visuelle Aspekte des digitalen Geschichtenerzählens auf. Dabei ziehen wir zum einen den Forschungsstand zu klassischen Formen digitaler Erzählungen, die in Workshops produziert werden, heran sowie, zum anderen, jenen zu digitalen Geschichten in Foren, Blogs und sozialen Netzwerkseiten.

Mit dem Begriff der digitalen Kluft wird die Ungleichheit beim Internetzugang erfasst (siehe u. a. Castells 2005, S. 262). Dabei geht es nicht nur um den fehlenden Zugang zur technischen Infrastruktur, sondern auch um fehlende kognitiven Fähigkeiten, fehlende Sprachkompetenz oder eine fehlende Motivation der Nutzenden (siehe Haseloff 2007, S. 24).

Mittlerweile finden solche Workshops fast weltweit statt (McWilliam 2009, S. 37). Diese Kurse werden v. a. in Ausbildungsinstitutionen wie Schulen und Universitäten, durch Kulturinstitutionen oder gemeinnützige Organisationen sowie durch öffentliche Träger (Regierungen, öffentlich-rechtliche Medieninstitutionen) angeboten (McWilliam 2009, S. 39).

Ermächtigung meint, dass Menschen Kontrolle über soziale und ökonomische Bedingungen erlangen, sowie demokratisch partizipieren und ihr Leben selbstbestimmt gestalten können (Hepp 2006, S. 47).
