Gesundheitliche Ungleichheit im internationalen Vergleich

Zusammenfassung

Dieser Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit gesundheitlichen Ungleichheiten im internationalen Vergleich und zeigt, wie diese auf unterschiedlichen Analyseebenen erfasst und untersucht werden können. Es wird dabei – immer mit Fokus auf den internationalen Vergleich – ein Überblick über zentrale Determinanten der Gesundheit gegeben. Dabei kann unter anderem gezeigt werden, dass sich die Weltregionen stark hinsichtlich der durchschnittlichen Lebenserwartung in der Bevölkerung voneinander unterscheiden. Im Anschluss auf diese deskriptive Darstellung werden unterschiedliche Erklärungsmodelle dafür diskutiert. Exemplarisch werden Zusammenhänge zwischen Arbeitsbedingungen wie Arbeitsbelastungen und Work-Life-Balance mit der Gesundheit erläutert. Der Beitrag zeigt dabei sowohl Chancen als auch Herausforderungen international vergleichende Analysen von Gesundheit und Krankheit auf.
