Zusammenfassung

Verantwortungsübernahme ist das Ergebnis eines Entscheidungsprozesses, der Aufmerksamkeit, gedankliche Auseinandersetzung und die Entstehung von Motivation umfasst. Beobachter von Notlagen anderer werden durch hemmende Einflüsse veranlasst, Verantwortung abzulehnen. Unter den Hemmfaktoren spielt die Diffusion der Verantwortung eine zentrale Rolle. Sie wird durch die Anwesenheit anderer Beobachter, die auch eingreifen könnten, ausgelöst. Wenn sich andere Zeugen passiv verhalten, stellen sie ein Vorbild für Vermeidung von Verantwortung dar. Die Diffusion der Verantwortung kann aber auch unter bestimmten Bedingungen verringert werden oder ganz entfallen. Das ist dann der Fall, wenn die Kompetenz der anderen Zeugen relativ gering im Vergleich zu der eigenen Kompetenz ist, wenn die Zeugen untereinander befreundet sind und wenn die Notlage eine Gefahrensituation darstellt.
