Zusammenfassung

Der vorliegende Beitrag beleuchtet das Verhältnis von Religion und Politik in den USA anhand der Allianz zwischen der Christlichen Rechten und der Republikanischen Partei seit den 1980er-Jahren. Es werden sowohl historische Vorläufer, vor allem der Einfluss der countercultural revolution der Long Sixties auf das Aufkommen des Neo-Evangelikalismus, und aktuelle Entwicklungen, besonders das Erstarken des Weißen Christlichen Nationalismus unter Obama und Trump, erläutert.
