Zusammenfassung

Historische, juristische sowie symbolische oder politische Aufarbeitungsprozesse von begangenem Unrecht umfassen das an Bedeutung gewinnende Forschungsfeld Transitional Justice (TJ). Der vorliegende Band verfolgt zwei Ziele. Zum einen soll die forschungsprogrammatische Entwicklung triangulärer Methodik im Forschungsfeld Transitional Justice (TJ)-Forschung aufgezeigt und zur Weiterarbeit auf diesem Gebiet angeregt werden. Zum Zweiten soll das praktische Interesse am Thema durch die Bereitstellung theoretischer und empirischer Kernaufsätze angeregt werden. Ein zentrales Argument für die Beschäftigung mit TJ ist dessen potenzieller Beitrag zur Herstellung von Vertrauen in (neue demokratische) politische Institutionen. Gleichzeitig können TJ-Maßnahmen die Versöhnung innerhalb einer Gesellschaft oder zwischen ehemals verfeindeten Gruppen und Nationen fördern. In diesem Kontext ist TJ ein politisch produktiver und über Generationen andauernder Prozess, der eine Vielfalt unterschiedlicher strafrechtlicher, historischer oder politischer Maßnahmen umfasst. Dies schließt nicht aus, dass es konterkarierende Entwicklungen und Effekte geben kann.

    Denzin, einer der Begründer der Triangulation, befürwortet eine Methodentriangulation, insofern sie zu einem besseren Verständnis quantitativer Daten führt. Quantitativ erhobene Daten sollen mit qualitativen Daten, etwa durch Befragungen, Beobachtungen oder aktive Teilhabe an entsprechenden Verfahren, ergänzt und mit Konzentration auf den Inhalt ausgewertet werden (Denzin 1970). Dies kann auch eine quantitative Triangulation im Sinne einer Verbindung von Umfrage- mit Strukturdaten beinhalten (Pickel 2009).

    Es gilt, klassische Fehlschlüsse zu vermeiden, indem die Schlussfolgerungen auf der Abstraktionsebene verbleiben, auf der die empirischen Analysen durchgeführt wurden. So kann beispielsweise nicht von Zusammenhängen auf der Aggregatebene auf Zusammenhänge auf Individualebene geschlossen werden und umgekehrt; qualitative Untersuchungsanlagen lassen nur sehr eingeschränkt Schlüsse auf eine Grundgesamtheit, wie z. B. ganze Gesellschaften, zu (Pickel 2009, S. 524).
