Zusammenfassung

Die Arnold-Chiari-Malformationen gehören zur Gruppe der kraniozerebralen Dysrhaphien, die häufig mit Schlafbezogenen Atmungsstörungen assoziiert sind. Als Folge eines gestörten Schlusses des kranialen Porus des Neuralrohrs entstehen frühembryonal komplexe Missbildungssyndrome der kraniozervikalen Übergangsregion. Je nach Ausprägungsgrad bilden sie unterschiedliche Kombinationen aus rhombenzephalen, mesenzephalen und dienzephalen sowie telenzephalen Missbildungen. Für die Klinik relevant sind die Typen Chiari I, II und III.
