Schmerztherapie bei alten Menschen

Praktische Schmerzmedizin

Zusammenfassung

Für eine Reihe von Schmerzursachen besteht eine Altersabhängigkeit, insbesondere für Schmerzen, die ihren Ursprung im muskuloskelettalen System haben, auf Degeneration beruhen oder die mit Krebserkrankungen assoziiert sind. Alte Patienten werden besonders durch chronische Schmerzen zunehmend in ihren körperlichen und psychosozialen Fähigkeiten beeinträchtigt. Die Schmerzerfassung kann im Alter durch kognitive Defizite erschwert sein. Veränderungen von Organfunktionen im Alter haben eine hohe Relevanz für die Pharmakokinetik und in der Folge auch Auswirkungen auf die Pharmakodynamik der in der Schmerztherapie eingesetzten Medikamente. Die individuelle Komorbidität und Komedikation sind zu berücksichtigen.
