Definition
An aerial robotic manipulator is an aerial robot with the capability of performing manipulation by using an onboard robotic arm and/or specialized devices.
Overview
Aerial robotic manipulators (Ollero and Siciliano 2019) can be considered as a particular case of aerial robots physically interacting with the environment, which also include the transport and deployment of a suspended load by one or by several aerial robots at the same time (Bernard et al. 2011). Notice that the second involves the physical interaction, through the common load, between several flying aircrafts. Other examples of these physical interactions (Kondak et al. 2015) are the docking of two aircrafts for refueling or even the flying with a tether, which could be also used for battery recharging.
