Abstract

The concept of PanVascular teams and networks has been designed to reverse the growing fragmentation of systems of delivery of cardiovascular care. The key elements of this concept include the development of teams and networks of experts with complementary expertise, interdisciplinary integration, design of common platforms for exchange and transfer of cardiovascular knowledge and skills, development of curricula for interventional treatments, pooling of resources, and close collaboration between clinical and basic life sciences.

Abbreviations

Network:

System designed to enable or facilitate communication and transfer of commodities, mostly referring to data, information, and knowledge.

PanVascular:

Concept designed to reflect the systemic character of cardiovascular diseases by implementing integrated and comprehensive cardiovascular management, care, and services.

Polyvascular Disease:

Simultaneous presence of clinically relevant atherosclerotic lesions in at least two major vascular territories.
