Definition

Logistics is the management of materials’ flow from one location to another. Logistics involves the integration of information, transportation, inventory, warehousing, material handling, and packaging.

Extended Definition

Logistics is concerned with managing transportation, warehousing, and inventory stocking activities. According to the Council of Logistics Management Professionals (CSCMP 2011), it is the process of planning, implementing, and controlling the efficient, effective flow and storage of goods, services, and related information from point of origin to point of consumption for the purpose of conforming to customer requirements.
