Definition
An enhanced force model-based feedrate scheduling (FFS) technique is used to optimize the feedrate for rough cutting of parts with complex free-form surfaces in 5-axis ball-end milling and micro end milling processes.
Theory and Application
Introduction
Macro- and micromachining has been used in the manufacture of complex free-form surfaces in the aerospace, automotive, die/mold, and biomedical industries for many years. 5-axis macromachining provides higher productivity and better access to all sides of the components and eliminates the need to use multiple fixtures. This advantage leads to reduced cycling time and labor costs and enhanced finished surface quality and better dimensional error.
