Abstract

Sneathiellaceae, a family in the order Sneathiellales, comprises the genera Oceanibacterium and Sneathiella. The cultures are Gram-negative asporogenous rods, which have been recovered from marine samples. The dominant fatty acids include C18:1ω7c and C16:0. The G + C content of the DNA is ∼57 mol%. 16S rRNA gene sequencing evidence was used principally to delineate the new order, family, and genera.
