Abstract
Several uranium occurrences contained in an intermontane Permian basin are exposed in a seven kilometer long zone on the southern flank of the Julian Alps in northwest Slovenia (Fig. 0.1). Žirovski vrh (vrh = mountain), the only uranium deposit mined in Slovenia, is one of numerous sandstone uranium occurrences found in a belt of continental Permian basins extending from the southern Alps of northern Italy, through southern Austria and northern Slovenia, and into southwestern Hungary and southwestern Romania.
