Alpha(α) 2-Adrenoceptors

Definition

α2-Adrenoceptors are G protein coupled receptors, which inhibit accumulation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), inhibit N-type and P/Q-type calcium channels, and activate potassium channels and Na+/H+ antiporter. Three receptor subtypes have so far been identified: α2A, α2B and α2C.
