Abstract
Climate variability is one of the major challenges facing the world today. It is significantly felt on the health, homes, herds, and crops of Africans, including the natural resources upon which many depend to survive, and if adequate measures are not promptly taken, Africa’s population might face an urgent crisis. This paper seeks to determine the relationship between crop production and rainfall pattern, vulnerability of households to climate variability, and the effect of climate variability on agricultural productivity across the geopolitical zones of Nigeria. It will increase the level of awareness of respondent’s exposure and sensitivity to climate variability in the study area. The findings of this study will help stakeholders to know the relationship between climate variables and their productivity and be able to take appropriate coping strategies. Therefore, it is envisioned that the outcome of this research will contribute in designing program through an elaborate understanding of the degree of household’s vulnerability to climate variability which will enable policy makers to formulate policies that will be beneficial to affected persons and areas.
