Abstract

Women’s health issues in the Arab world need to be studied so as to fully understand the health status of Arab women in general and more specifically to improve the quality of care for their children. This chapter focuses on the most common women’s health issues in the Arab world from a primary healthcare perspective and discusses some approaches to reducing complications that arise. The most common women’s health issues existing in the Arab world discussed in this chapter are obesity, smoking (tobacco and waterpipe), family planning (FP), menopause, osteoporosis, child marriage, breast cancer, domestic violence, female genital mutilation (FGM), and cervical cancer.
