Definition

Poverty is defined as the state of having little or no money, resources, sustainability, or support. There is a difference though between absolute poverty and relative poverty. Absolute poverty includes a complete lack of means to meet personal needs and is independent of location and area. According to the World Bank since 2015, it is also defined as those who earn only USD$1.90 per day. Relative poverty, however, refers to the inability to meet the minimum living standards when compared to others in the same time and place.

Introduction

The chapter brings to light the challenges and opportunities for balance and further improvement of social and economic situations according to the 17 SDGs, with a specific focus on goal 17: utilizing partnerships to achieve the goals.
