Definition
A green city definition is disciplinary and multidisciplinary in scope and mostly depends on the local needs and focus of policies. The most common expectations are that a green city will have clean air and water with pleasant streets and parks, if one is looking at the ecological values. It will be resilient in the face of natural disasters, and the risks of disease outbreaks in the city are very low: this is from public health perspective. Green cities promote positive environmental behavior like use of public transport, and their ecological impact is relatively small; this is from social well-being perspective (Kahn 2006).
