Definitions
Global climate change is one of the most alarming ethical and political challenges confronting the world in the twenty-first century. The intergenerational and transnational ethical issues raised by climate change have been the focus of a significant body of scholarship, including climate justice (Caney 2014; Gardiner 2006; Gosseries and Meyer 2009; Moellendorf 2011; Shue 2007). The literal, etymological sense of the word justice is associated with the morally appropriate and, in particular, treatment of persons, groups, and classes. Intergenerational justice extends this definition intertemporally and transgenerational.
