Energy Infrastructure
Energy infrastructure is key for any modern and growing society. Though no standard definition of energy infrastructure is available, it has been interpreted in different ways in different contexts. As per European Commission (European Commission n.d., p 1), energy infrastructure includes, in particular, transmission, distribution, and storage infrastructure for electricity, gas, and oil (e.g., electricity smart grids, gas transmission and distribution pipelines; underground storage facilities of gas; regasification or decompression facilities for liquefied natural gas; oil pipelines and pumping stations; CO2 networks of pipelines).
As per guidelines EEAG 2014, paragraph 31 – and Art. 2(130) GBER of the European Union the energy infrastructure shall include:
- a)
Electricity: infrastructure for transmission, distribution, and storage (connected to HV transmission)
- b)
Gas: transmission and distribution pipelines for the transport of gas, underground...
