This Aegean Dispute refers to six Greco-Turkish disputes in the Aegean Sea: the extent of the continental shelf, the breadth of the Greek territorial sea, the existing Greek national airspace, the demilitarization status of those eastern Greek islands located close to Turkey, the islets Imia or Kardak and the related “grey zones” issue, and differences over the responsibilities emanating from Greece’s self-proclaimed Flight Information Region.

The Aegean dispute between Greece and Turkey was set on course in early 1974, initially as a dispute limited to the Aegean continental shelf, and has not been resolved until today, although there have been several attempts at settlement through bilateral talks.
