Dedicated to improving the lives of service members and families affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI), the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) Directorate employs a unique, holistic approach to clinical treatment by using interdisciplinary teams and integrative medicine in a collaborative effort with patients, families, referring providers, and researchers. The NICoE at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is part of the US Military Health System’s Traumatic Brain Injury Pathway of Care.
Since its establishment in 2010, the NICoE has played a leading role in advancing the understanding of complex and comorbid traumatic brain injury and psychological health conditions in order to maximize wellness and relieve suffering for its patient population.
