Synonyms
Tactile agnosia
Definition
Inability to identify an object by touch alone. This is an older term for tactile agnosia and is considered to be a higher order or agnostic type of deficit; hence, it should not reflect a disturbance of elementary somatosensory disturbances, as might be associated with lesions of peripheral nerves or the medial lemniscus “Tactile Agnosia.”
