Description
The Halstead Impairment Index is a summary index of brain damage that is derived from seven of the core test scores from the Halstead-Reitan Neuropsychological Battery (HRNB). Test scores that contribute to the index include the Category Test errors, Tactual Performance Test total time, Tactual Performance Test Localization score, Tactual Performance Test Memory score, Rhythm Test ranked score, Speech Sounds Perception Test errors, and the Finger Tapping test dominant hand performance. The Impairment Index ranges from 0.0 to 1.0 and is calculated in a straightforward manner. A determination is first made regarding how many of the seven test scores fall beyond the cutoff score for impairment. Then, the total number of test scores that fall in the impaired range is divided by the total number of test scores (i.e., 7).
