Dr. John Gottman is world renowned for his work on marital stability and divorce prediction and has conducted 46 years of breakthrough research with thousands of couples. Dr. Gottman was named one of the top 10 most influential therapists of the past quarter-century by the psychotherapy networker.

Career

John Gottman holds a B.S. in mathematics-physics from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He completed an M.S. in mathematics-psychology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1964, and an M.A. clinical psychology-mathematics, University of Wisconsin in 1967. His Ph.D. in clinical psychology was earned at the University of Wisconsin in 1971.

Dr. Gottman’s career includes: assistant professor, Indiana University 1974–1976; associate professor, Indiana University 1976–1981; associate professor, University of Illinois 1981–1986; professor of psychology, University of Illinois 1986–2002; professor of psychology, University of Washington 1986–2002.
