Definition
NGOization refers to the process where nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and other civil society bodies are driven to become more professionalized, institutionalized, bureaucratized, and depoliticized and then to emphasize greater collaborative parentship with the state, upward accountability, and institutional advocacy.
Introduction
The phenomenon that signifies the development of civil society organizations and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) from being movement-oriented turning to be a more professionalized and effectiveness-oriented group has been increasingly witnessed around the world since the 1980s. NGOs have been pressured to transform themselves to properly operate in the public space and prove their worth to donors and governments.
