Definitions

Sustainability:

Sustainability is anchored on the three pillars of social, economic, and environmental preservation for the guaranteed present and future generations.

Empowerment:

A people-focused development initiative that enhances self-reliance and self-esteem, through active participation in the stages of policy process.

Poverty:

Means the denial of choices and opportunities and lack of capacity to participate effectively in society.

Poverty reduction:

Strategic policy measures, both economic and humanitarian, which are intended to permanently lift people out of poverty (Ukeje et al. 2020, p. 1).

Urban development:

Process of enhancing urban services for secure and sustainable environment, prosperous economy, and humanitarian cause and social well-being.
