Definitions
Bureaucratic red tape is a concept that points to the negative aspects of the bureaucracy which may refer to factors such as excessive work load and excessive use of documents.
Introduction
Bureaucratic red tape is one of the main causes of citizen complaints. Administrative activities, processes, and procedures may be seen as mere policy outputs for bureaucrats, but for citizens, they are main causes of negative feelings towards public administration. This chapter presents the definition and the scope of bureaucratic red-tape, includes a theoretical approach, and provides important aspects of the causes and results of it.
