Definitions
Emotions including anger, hate, sorrow, and fear affect firefighters’ reasoning process and thus may have a negative impact to emergency management. Emotion-based management employs affective decisions when firefighters deal with emergencies. On the other hand, rationality is important to enable firefighters to find and carry out solutions. Rationality-based management follows reason and logic when addressing emergencies.
