Definition

Diversity refers to understanding uniqueness of individuals within organizations

Introduction

Due to increased workforce mobility, migration, and internationalization of education curricula, diversity in the workforce in terms of social identity categories such as gender, race, ethnicity, age, and sexual orientation has become a prime concern for today’s organizations in both the public and private sector. In today’s globalized world, organizations need to attract and maintain a diverse workforce to make use of its differentiated knowledge, skills, and capabilities (Ortlieb and Sieben 2014; Romani et al. 2016; Janssens and Zanoni 2014).
