Postdisaster public procurement refers to processes that focus on the laws, the policies, and practices that integrate economic, social, and environmental risks into public procurement processes and decisions aimed at meeting demand during emergency and the period thereafter.

Introduction

Managing disaster of any kind/category can be quite a daunting task. To ease this task, writers (Hidayat and Egbu 2010; Khan et al. 2008) attempt to label the stages (phases or cycles) of disaster management in various ways, including: prevention, preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery. Each of these disaster management phases may require different resources, different skills, and different regulations to govern the procurement processes.
