The philosophical foundation of an organization that reinforces behavior, decision-making, and overall culture

Introduction

General principles which can be used to describe a person, profession, or organization may be referred to as core values. Values provide a philosophical guide to a code of conduct and help organizations determine what is right from what is fast, fun, or easy. They are designed to be such a part of the fabric, or makeup, of the company that they remain steadfast through the years. Broadly applied, they reinforce an organization’s culture, shape the vision for the future, and guide decision-making. Applied at the micro level, they serve to underpin how work is performed, how employees interact with each other, and how they serve their customers.
