Definition

Global and international politics concern both the cooperative and conflictual relations that exist between and among governments of nations as they seek to advance the common security, well-being, and prosperity of their populations and territories in conditions of justice and peace.

Introduction

International relations have existed from the dawn of recorded history. Trade relations and conflicts have existed between and among peoples, empires, and feudal state systems for as long as human communities have been organized. Examples of this include the rise of Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Assyrian, Hittite, Persian, Chaldean, and Israelite kingdoms in the ancient Near East to the state systems in the subcontinent of India and Chinese Empires.
