Definition

This term comprises biphasic malignant neoplasms that show epithelial and mesenchymal differentiation proved by morphological and/or immunohistochemical features (Lopez-Beltran and Cheng 2006). Sarcomatoid carcinoma seems to represent the final common pathway of urothelial carcinoma dedifferentiation (Cheng et al. 2011).

Clinical Features

  • Incidence

Sarcomatoid carcinoma is a very rare entity, representing <1% of all bladder tumors. Some cases may have a previous history of radiation and/or cyclophosphamide therapy as risk factor (Lopez-Beltran et al. 1998; Moch et al. 2016).

  • Age

Patient’s age ranges from 50 to 77 years with a mean of 66.

  • Sex

There is a male prevalence with a male to female ratio of 3–4:1.

  • Site and presentation
