Clinical Features
Incidence
It is typically found as a component of acinar carcinoma (in 16–22% of cases) and is only rarely pure (in 0.2–2% of cases)
Age
Mainly among patients aged 60–70 years.
Sex
Male.
Site
Mainly peripheral zone of the prostate.
Treatment
Similar to those of usual acinar adenocarcinoma.
Outcome
Similar to those of usual acinar adenocarcinoma: The presence of prostatic adenocarcinoma with foamy glands is not likely to be of prognostic significance (Hudson et al. 2012; Nelson and Epstein 1996; Tran et al. 2001).
Macroscopy
Similar to those of usual acinar adenocarcinoma. There are no reported gross descriptions of prostatic adenocarcinoma with foamy glands.
Microscopy
Foamy gland adenocarcinoma is characterized by abundant foamy or xanthomatous type cytoplasm with small hyperchromatic nuclei, and minimal or no...
