Introduction
Although many other personality measures exist to assess the “Big Five” traits, Gosling et al. (2003) argued that such measures were problematic for use in situations where time was limited or participants were likely to be fatigued as a result of other having already completed other surveys. To address this problem, they designed a scale with two items for each of the five dimensions of personality (Extraversion, Emotional Stability, Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, and Openness) typically assessed by Big Five measures. Each of these items consisted of a set of two adjectives and each of the scales had one of those items reverse-scored for the construct of interest.
