Introduction

The revised diagnostic interview for borderlines (DIB-R; Zanarini et al. 1989) is a semistructured clinical interview used to diagnose borderline personality disorder (BPD). The interview was adapted from the Diagnostic Interview for Borderlines (DIB; Gunderson et al. 1981) and incorporates a similar set of diagnostic criteria as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders with additional symptom domains and scoring criteria based on Gunderson and Singer’s (1975) formulations and extensive clinical observations that derived from using the original DIB.
