Definition
The Personality and Preference Inventory (PAPI) was designed to measure an individual’s work-related personality characteristics and based on a review of validity evidence, PAPI does measure the personality characteristics it is intended to measure. PAPI consists of 22 core scales and 10 facet scales that are clustered into 7 factors. An additional 5 items measure social desirability and form a separate, additional response validity scale. PAPI is available in 29 languages (perhaps more now) and is in its 3rd edition (revised two times). It also has many user aids, tools, and interpretative reports that facilitate its proper use in work settings. In addition to the 32 (22 core plus 10 facet) PAPI scales, 4 “specialized” scales were developed specifically for sales and leadership occupations/positions.
