Introduction
Brian P. O’Connor was born in 1959 and raised in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. He obtained a B.Sc. in 1981 from St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, Canada. His M.Sc. and Ph.D. (finishing in 1987) were from the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, where he worked with Robert Gifford. He was then a postdoctoral fellow for 1 year at the University of Quebec at Montreal, working with Robert Vallerand. He spent the next 19 years as a professor at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He has been a professor at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan, since 2007.
His primary research interests have been in topics that are at the intersection of personality, social, and abnormal psychology, with an emphasis on understanding individual differences.
