Definition

The purposive and frequent delay in beginning or completing a task to the point of experiencing subjective discomfort.

The intentional yet irrational postponement of a course of action despite knowing that this delay has negative effects.

Introduction

Scientists find that an estimated 20% of adult men and women, living around the world (as of 2016, in Austria, Australia, Canada, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Peru, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, Venezuela), are chronic procrastinators – persons intentionally delaying as a self-sabotaging strategy decisions and tasks that need to be done.
