Introduction
Carl Gustav Jung was born in Kesswil, Switzerland, on 26 July, 1875, and died in his home at Küsnacht, Switzerland, on 6 June, 1961, at the age of 85 years. Jung was a professional psychiatrist initially from within the psychoanalytic tradition, but he went on to develop his own school of analytical psychology which has had an extraordinary influence to the extent where the International Association for Analytical Psychology now has over 3,000 member Jungian Analysts working in more than 30 countries worldwide. During his career, Jung received ten honorary doctorates – from Clark University, Fordham University, Harvard University, Hyderabad University, Calcutta University, Benares University, Allahabad University, Oxford University, University of Geneva, and ETH, Zurich. Overall, he has been ranked as the 23rd most cited psychologist in the twentieth Century (Haggbloom et al. 2002).
