Arkhangelsk Admiralty – was the first Russian Admiralty, established in 1701 to construct sea ships. It was founded on the base of the Solombal wharf in Arkhangelsk, established by Peter the Great in 1693 to build trade and war ships. The Admiralty consisted of three wharfs: the Solombal (on the Solombal Islands), the Bykovskaya (on the Northern Dvina River), and the Frazerskaya (on the river Maimiska). A 24-gun ship Saint Paul was built here in 1694. Since the first 52-gun ship class Gavriillbuilt in 1712, for 150 years the Admiralty supplied ships for the Baltic Fleet. In the middle of the nineteenth century, the Admiralty was divided into medium and new, owned 7 staples and set of workshops. The Shirshem plant (20 km up to the Northern Dvina River) supplied Admiralty with iron. The Lapominskaya Bay, 30 km down to Arkhangelsk, served for wintering and ship storage.
