Arctic is My Home – the first polar encyclopaedia for school children, which had been composed by famous Russian geographer and historian Vadim I. Magidovich. It is also the title of the first volume in trilogy A History of the North Exploration through Lives of Famous People (Volume II Nature of the North, Volume III Peoples of the North). The first volume (280 pages) includes such chapters as Name on a map, Testimonials and legends, Patch Breaker, The Great North Expedition, Arctic vessels, Missionary, The Northern Sea Route, The Papanin Team, Polar stations, and The Polar Aviation. This illustrated book has photos and pictures from books of prominent scientists, painters, writers, and participants of the 1st International Competition The Arctic and Its Explorers through the Eyes of Kids.
