Aprelev, Ivan Ivanovich (1701–1756) – was the captain of the Reval Port and chief commander of the Port of Arkhangelsk. In 1717, he graduated from Naval Academy as garde-marine. He sailed through the Medditerranean Sea on the ship Armong to Venice for trading. In 1721 he returned to Russia and two years later was commissioned under Lieutenant. In 1724 A. was appointed secretary of the 1st rank, then in 1727 – Lieutenant. In 1728 he became the commander of the frigate Kiskin in Reval. In 1733 according to the new staffing establishment, he became naval Lieutenant. In 1736 he besieged Azov. Afterwards A. was sent to Kazan for timber shipment and control over ship construction. In 1740 he was Captain Colonel. In 1742 under his command the frigate Appolon left Arkhangelsk with Bredal’s squadron but was forced to return due to the wreckage and wintered in Arkhangelsk.
