American Expeditionary Forces in the North of Russia – landed in the north of Russia in August 1918. The crew number of the force under command of Colonel Wilds Richardson was 5000 men. Officially, their aim was to maintain safety of the military warehouses near Arkhangelsk and Murmanks, due to the risk of their occupation by the approaching German Army and to defend the rail line Murmansk-Petrograd. Under general command of the British General Frederick C. Poole, General W.E. Ironside committed to the campaign with the British soldiers and suffered causalities, the majority of which among forces in the North of Russia. They left Russia in 1919.
