Ryan Y. Hong is an assistant professor of psychology at the National University of Singapore. He is a personality psychologist with broad interests in personality traits and their processing dynamics, in particular examining their roles in the etiology of psychopathology. He has secondary interests in personality and psychological assessment.
Educational Background
Initially wanted to be a social worker, Dr Hong majored in social work and psychology as an undergraduate at the National University of Singapore, thinking that the latter would make a good complement to the former. However, he became so intrigued with the fascinating world of psychological research that he decided to pursue graduate training in psychology. Dr Hong earned his M.Soc.Sci. from the National University of Singapore in 2002 and his Ph.D. in personality psychology from the University of Western Ontario in 2007 under the mentorship of Dr Sampo Paunonen.
